Moving Files/Folders in Sharepoint is Slow
While moving a single file or a few files in Sharepoint is straightforward, moving a large number of files or large files can be tricky. Moving files/folders from one folder to another within the same Sharepoint Team Site is usually fast/instantaneous, however, moving files/folders between Sharepoint sites can take minutes or hours, depending on the number and sizes of the files. Furthermore, there is no easy way of tracking the progress of the move operation. For this reason, for larger moves, please contact the support desk rather than attempting this on your own.
